casey got me interested in Ray Kurzweil. I'm working my way through “The Age of Spiritual Machines: When Computers Exceed Human Intelligence” (I've made it through the title and a couple of the essays so far). Mr. Kurzweil's research (with the help of many others) has brought into focus the fact that our progress in technology and bio-sciences are quickly merging, and will probably result in our very own immortality, likely within the next few decades!
