I recently did some Windows Service work (pluggable enterprise-wide notification service, very cool... totally worth it's own article someday when I have time), and I'm thinking that the service installage/uninstallage is squirrelly... I made some batch files to do it for me and never thought about it again. W. Kevin Hazzard reflected installutil.exe, and integrated (un)install right into his service.
